The Original Centipede Grass Seed

Patten Seed Company Online Store

Technology in the production of Centi-Seed® has been developed by Patten Seed Company over the past 50 years.  Production occurs on Patten Seed farms in South Georgia and South Carolina.

Super-Wrapped Centi-Seed Bags and Display

More than one million permanent lawns have been established usingCenti-Seed®.  Centi-Seed® is commonly used to convert a fescue lawn in the upper South to a lower maintenance Centipedegrass.   Conversion is almost always successful and requires patience, as complete conversion may not be obtained until the second summer - depending on planting date.

Super-Wrapped Centi-Seed Bag Cover

Patten Seed Company in an on going effort to make seeding a centipede lawn more successful has introduced the unique Super-Wrapped® technology.  The addition of disease protection and nutrients to the coating enhances the establishment of your Centi-Seed® lawn.   The ability to distribute seed evenly insures a more uniform stand and quicker cover.

Like the little acorn from which every mighty oak grows, Super-Wrapped® Centi-Seed® plants creep along, gradually choking out weeds and other grasses, producing a luxurious, lifetime lawn.  This ability to spread brings about a lower seed planting rate requirement than many other seeded grasses.   Nature made Centipede slow but strong, unlike Fescues, Bermudas and other grasses that start fast, require frequent mowing, gradually yielding to weeds and then fading away.

Super-Wrapped® Centi-Seed® improves lawn establishment:

Super-Wrapped® Centi-Seed® is more efficient
  • Ready to plant – no mixing with sand
  • Broader, more consistent distribution through spreaders
  • Costs less to plant than inferior grasses
Super-Wrapped® Centi-Seed® helps build a healthier lifetime lawn
  • Casing pulls moisture to the seed, enhancing germination
  • Includes nutrients and disease protection
  • Gradually chokes out weeds, slow but certain
Super-Wrapped® Centi-Seed® makes every seed count
  • Less loss to birds, rain erosion and wind
  • Protects seeds until germination

Super-Wrapped® Centi-Seed® covers quickly when planted alone.   Mixing Centi-Seed with other grasses such as Carpet, only delays complete coverage.
